I've had a few people asking me about quilting. How do you do it? Where do you get fabric? What are the steps? I'm certainly not the expert at this, I'm really a fly by the seat of my pants kindof girl. My first quilting experience was a disaster; of course I didn't have a pattern, let alone any idea what steps to take so fabric pieces came together even or didn't bunch up on eachother.
Then I got some tools for a gift and started slow. (Tools are great - I should probably cover those
This and this were very helpful to my learn-as-I-go approach (I'm definitely an expert at this). I still go back for block ideas. Lately I've been reading a lot of quilting blogs - there are so many out there, but this one just recently did a quilt-along which is really helpful step by step to do a whole quilt.
The best thing I did was take a quilting class. I learned lots of tips and tricks of the trade, plus it was fun! After the class I feel a lot more confident in my skills and just keep building on them.
So - that's a start. I'll tackle fabric another time...
